-  I have a new theatre story.  During the "Yellow Face" student matinee the sound board died dead midway through Act II.  So for the final 30 minutes of the show we only had whatever I could do over the god mic - a few voiceover announcements, testing a cell phone ring tone, saying "beep" while trying to sound like an answering machine.  It made for a very interesting afternoon.

-  YF closed last weekend.  I really liked that show, and the cast and crew; it's been a long time since I was sad to see a show end.  I would happily have run it for a few more weeks.  Of course jumping into a new show the next day meant there wasn't a whole lot of time to miss anyone or to mourn the show.

-  I am now almost a week into "The Chosen" which is based on the book of the same name by Chaim Potok.  Missing the first week of rehearsal was strange.   Things were done differently than I would do them for a week (which isn't necessarily bad), so I feel like I'm trying to catch up to everyone else.  I also don't know the show as well as I would like yet, and my assistant is really smart but new to this kind of theatre which makes things a bit more difficult.

-  All stage managers are obsessive/compulsive to a certain degree about our paperwork or the way we do certain things.  Having someone else do the first week of rehearsal pointed out to me that I am way more O/C than I thought I was.  I didn't re-write all the blocking, but I actually considered it.

-  We have a house guest arriving tonight for the next two weeks.  I am excited to see C, but concerned about my home feeling different.  This is a bit ridiculous since J & C were roomates until this summer, and I was on their turf all the time.

-  I have not started running again yet.  Blech.

-  But my hands have stopped peeling!

-  I have felt generally meh for a few days.  I'm not sure what is causing it, though I have several theories.  I think if I could just hibernate for a week I'd be fine, but that's not going to happen.

-  Yay for new TV!  I am enjoying "Glee!" a lot, and the first episode of "Flash Forward" was action-packed and intriguing.  Those are the only two new shows I've added this fall; I tried the first episode of NCIS:LA but I don't think that one is going to stay on my list.

-  J has finally caught up to SPN and we're now watching it together on Thursday nights.  It's a little weird, but fun, to have someone to watch the show with.  I find myself being a bit careful about jumping out of my seat or yelling at the tv now that someone can see me.

Oh my. How'd the parents take the motherfucker?

Heeeeeeeee.

How'd the parents take the motherfucker?
They seemed better prepared this time, no one walked out due to the language. Though every time there was cursing onstage the entire audience would "Whoooo". Every time. Who knew that cursing was still that exciting to today's high school student?

Yeah, I have been toning my tv geekness down for J a little, since we're now watching together all the time. That will wear off in a week or so. He's still getting used to the fact that I watch the scrolling credits so occasionally I get excited about something like who wrote an episode all out of proportion with what is actually happening in the show in that moment.

I understand very well. Tiny, who lived next door to Grover in college and is one of Grover's best friends from college, is living in our downstairs bedroom for the time being. She's here for three months, initially, and might stay longer if she could get a contract renewal. On one hand, it's nice to have the time to see her. And on the other hand, I'd like to have my house back to myself...

Exactly. It just messes with my routines and privacy. But it certainly isn't that huge a deal in the larger scheme of things.

not a huge deal in the scheme of things, but man, it really upsets stuff in the short-term. and since we generally live in the short-term... that can be a problem.
