philosophy while running

I went running this morning, and I took one of the little side paths around a park, which is near a pre-school.  As I turned a corner a class of 3 and 4 year olds got to the head of the path and then all started running towards me with all of the exuberance of youth.  I stayed to the far right of the path and watched the kids run past me - energetic, smiling, yelling - happy.  Towards the back of the group there was one little dark-haired girl standing resolutely still.  After having gone ten feet another girl looked back and realized her friend wasn't moving, and she ran back and took the dark-haired girl's hand.  They then both began to run, smiling huge, and passed me by as well.

Today my goal is to try to hold on to their joy in my life.  And to remember that if I stand still and ask for help, I have lots of friends who will turn back and grab my hand.
